Our 2024 Salish Sea whale watching season is upon us! With tours set to begin soon, we decided to kick off the season with a crew whale watching trip. After departing Friday Harbor where we had lunch, we received a report of killer whales a few miles to the north in the Canadian gulf islands.
On our way to the whales, we stopped off at legendary Spieden island to get some glimpses of Steller Sea lions, Harbor seals, Bald eagles, Mouflon sheep, and Fallow deer. As it usually is, Spiden was teeming with life. We then continued a short while northward, where we soon caught up with guess who, the T123 family of killer whales! After having this family of orcas around so much last year, it seemed fitting that our 2024 season would begin with them. It was so great to have a visit with Sidney (T123) and her kiddos. We watched as they slowly traveled down Swanson Channel, seemingly enjoying the sunshine as we were too.
With tours set to kickoff on April 6th, we’ve been hard at work sprucing up the boat and preparing for guests. There have been plenty of whales around and we can’t wait to get out there. We hope you’ll join us for an adventure!
