It was a great week for Anacortes whale watching! We saw killer whales on 6 of our 8 trips, and also had some great encounters with some humpback whales, a gray whale, and a great minke whale encounter!
This week’s round of trips was highlighted by an encounter on Saturday morning’s trip when we got to watch the T124A’s swim through Deception Pass! It was incredible to watch the raw power of these whales on display, as they powered through pass against 6 knots of current! They “porpoised” through the pass, meaning propelling their whole bodies out of the water to get as much speed as they could.
